Uses: ketamine is a non-barbiturate, non narcotic, dissociative anaesthetic for inducing and maintenance of anaesthesia. Used alone, Ketavet does not induce muscle relaxation. For use in horses, primates, dogs and cats.
Administration: by IM, sub-cutaneus or IV injections. To be used alone or in combination with other anaesthetics. Suitable for pregnant animals.
Dosage: dosage and routes of administration vary widely between species, also according to combination with other agents, see enclosed leaflet. As a guide, cats and dogs: 5 mg to 8mg/kg IV, 10 mg to 20 mg/kg IM. Horses: 1.1 mg/kg to 2.2 mg/kg IV depending on the combination agent.
Contra-indications, warnings: Ketavet: not to be used for ocular surgery. Care should be taken on weak heart, liver, kidney animals. Other agents used in combination with Ketavet: see leaflets of each agent. Store below 25ºC and keep away from light. Not to be used for horses for human consumption.
